Essex on Stage: I am Gavrilo Princip

By Oliver Yellop
Supported by Queen's Theatre Hornchurch and Matthew Schmolle Productions

His name is Gavrilo Princip. He is the young assassin that shot the Archduke Franz Ferdinand. He fired the shot that changed the world. But was it worth it? This one hour play explores his life, his, legacy and the world he left behind forever changed.

Captivating, Movingly written and performed with charm’ ★★★★ Broadway Baby

This exciting new play finds Gavrilo in purgatory watching the blood and carnage of the 20th century unfold. Not good enough for heaven not bad enough for hell. This is his punishment to watch the consequences of his actions over and over again.

History has not been kind to Gavrilo. He has either been overlooked, misrepresented or misunderstood. This is not a story about the colossal impact of his actions. This is a story about a young man trying to find his place in the world, of having the best intentions and getting the worst possible results.
