Black Lives, Black Words: Innovate! Innovate! F**k S**t Up!

NEW: ADF TALKS (similar to TED Talks)

Can we innovate in theatre?

“We are the innovators they are the imitators” is a lyric by My Morning Jacket that you may recall from a particularly brilliant episode of American Dad, I digress, but it’s a sentiment that stuck with me. I am proud to be of a lineage of people who persevered and in many ways flourished in countries that created institutions aimed at holding held them back. We have innovated, experimented, questioned, influenced and forced changes through Art. Ethnic minorities have been the innovators, and they the imitators on countless occasions.

We have F***KED some S**T UP! We see this history in Music, Art, Literature and Dance…but is this history in theatre?

This talk will look at other mediums in order to try to answer to this question and hopefully go some way in setting out a schematic to unfetter our experimental side. But, beyond all this, the question still remains… Who will program the work?

Contributors are Remi Graves, Taio Lawson, Omar El-Khairy.

This talk will be followed by a showcase of new work by contemporary British artists at 7.30 pm in the auditorium. Click here to book.
